About The Annapolis Blend

MISSION & VISION

Our Mission Statement: We build connections, enrich lives, and spread joy through the magic of music. Our mission is to achieve joyful excellence in singing women’s four-part a cappella and barbershop music, and to perform and engage as an integral member of the Annapolis community.

The Annapolis Blend was founded in 1966 and became a chartered member of Sweet Adelines International under the name the Arundelair Chorus. We have been entertaining audiences around the Annapolis area ever since! Like many performing arts organizations, our chorus was challenged through the global pandemic. However, we continued to meet regularly, we sang “together” and created digital performances and collaborations with other choruses in our region. In 2023, we launched a refresh of our brand and our new name: The Annapolis Blend. We are excited for this next evolution of our chorus!

As a member of Sweet Adelines International, we are committed to the ideals of diversity, equity and inclusion. We welcome women (including trans women, and nonbinary people assigned female at birth) of any age, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, ability or socio-economic status.

SWEET ADELINES INTERNATIONAL

Mission Statement for Sweet Adelines International: Elevating women singers worldwide through education, performance, and competition in barbershop harmony and a cappella music.

Joining our chorus also means joining a large family bonded through friendship and their love of music. The Annapolis Blend is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, the world’s largest singing and music education organization for women. Choruses can be found all over the world. The international organization sponsors educational events throughout the year and hosts the International Competition of top quartets and choruses.

The Sweet Adelines International organization is separated into 24 regions which span the globe. We belong to the Atlantic Bay-Mountain Region 19 which includes chapters in Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware. The region holds an annual convention and competition in the Spring in which their choruses and quartets compete. Regional contests are seen as an avenue for personal empowerment, fellowship, and chorus improvement. This is a wonderful experience and contestants are always very supportive of each other. Winners of the Regional contest are eligible to compete at the International level.
